Access and permissions

The compose message page can be accessed from the menu via: People > Communications > Compose templated message.

  • When following up a message created from a school template. This is done from the view messages page and the view single message page

To access the page, the school must have MIS and enhanced comms enabled, and the user must have one of the following permissions:

  • can-send-email-communications
  • can-send-app-communications
  • can-send-sms-communications

As well as one of the area based recipient permissions, such as

  • can-send-consents-communications-to-parents
  • can-send-consents-communications-to-students
  • can-send-consents-communications-to-staff

 

System templates are not available for composing messages. If following up a message, the list is further filtered to only show templates that are of the same recipient type and in the same area as the message being followed up.

 

Step 1: Select template

Select a template using the table's radio buttons to advance to the next step. 


Channels appear as disabled if the comms settings are disabled. A channel is only disabled if there are no enabled recipient types for any year group. Therefore, if a channel is enabled only for a single recipient and year group, the channel will still appear as enabled.
 If all channels are disabled, the template is not selectable.


Select next to move to the compose page where values can be added for the tags included for the template.



The message can be previewed for each enabled channel prior to moving to the selection of recipients.
